TeachMeMedical
Privacy
Effective October 17, 2026. In plain words: what we collect, why, who sees it, and how to have it deleted.
If you are a patient watching films
- We never ask for your name, and you don't sign in.
- The link or QR code holds a list of films, a visit code and an end time. It has no name or health record. Anyone with the link can watch the films until it ends.
- We keep a record that the link was made and when it ends, and a note when the link is opened, so the office can see that the films played.
- If you tap, type or say a question, it is saved so your eye doctor's office team can see it.
- These records are deleted automatically a few days after the link ends.
- Your phone remembers which films you have watched. That stays on your phone.
- Some films play through YouTube (its privacy-enhanced player). YouTube's own privacy policy applies while they play. The others play from our own website.
- Your eye doctor's office has its own notice of privacy practices for your medical records. This page covers only this website.
If you work at a practice and sign in
- You can sign in with Google, with LinkedIn, or with a username and password made here. If you use LinkedIn, we receive your name, email and profile photo from LinkedIn.
- We keep your name and email (or the username you chose), and whether your account is approved.
- We keep the playlists, favourites and video requests you save.
- Some tools use AI. When you press an AI button, the text and any images you send go to our server and to Anthropic's Claude AI to write the answer. We check for birth dates, record numbers and phone numbers first. Please don't include patient details. Our server doesn't keep that text.
If you use our contact form
- We keep your name, practice or organization, email or phone, and your note.
- Our founder gets a text message with your name and organization so we can reply.
- We use this only to reply to you. We won't add you to a mailing list unless you say yes.
- It is kept until you ask us to delete it.
If you are a doctor and send us a recording
- You sign in with Google or LinkedIn so we know a real person sent it.
- We keep your recording, the topic, your name, credentials, where you're licensed, specialty, practice (if you give it), email, how you want to be credited, and the agreement you signed with its date and time.
- We also keep the account you signed in with (Google or LinkedIn: name, email, and for LinkedIn your profile photo).
- Only the TeachMeMedical team can see your recording and details while we review them. Our founder gets a text with your name and topic so we can review it. If we make a film from it, the film is public, credited the way you chose. Services that help us make films (for example transcription, AI writing and voice tools) may process the recording or transcript; we will name them in the list below before we use the first one.
- We may use recordings and transcripts, with your name removed, for research and to train AI, as the agreement says.
- Your recording must not include any patient information. If we find any, we delete it.
- Your recording and details are stored in the United States.
- We keep your recording and details while we use anything made from it. We keep the signed agreement record as long as any film made from your recording is in use, and afterwards for as long as we may need to show you agreed. If you ask us to delete your details, we delete the recording and the contact details we don't need; the agreement record stays.
- We use your email only about your recording. To stop new use of your recording, or to have your details deleted, email us (films already made may continue, as the agreement says).
Who handles the data
- Google Firebase and Google Cloud host the website and store the records above.
- Anthropic processes text sent with the AI buttons.
- A text-message service carries the founder's alerts.
- We don't sell patients' or staff's information or share it for advertising. Doctors' recordings are used as their contributor agreement says (above). We don't use ad trackers or analytics cookies.
Do Not Track
We don't track you across other websites, so a browser's Do Not Track setting changes nothing here.
Children
The films may be watched with children, but the site isn't meant for children under 13 to use on their own, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
See, fix or delete your information
